Samsung have introduced the new SPH-B2500 phone. The phone is visually very similar to the recently announced SCH-V700 in that is a 'Portable Multimedia Player' (PMP) with a rotating screen which can alternate between the portrait and landscape positions. The phone supports the Digital Multimedia Broadcasting (DMB) standard which allows TV, among other things, to be broadcast to mobile phones.
The phone also features the new Via audio codec, which drastically reduces the size of MP3s from around 5MB down to about 1MB. The codec uses a 32kbps bitrate, less than a quarter of the standard 160kbps rate favoured by most MP3 aficionados. More information about the codec can be found at the AnyCall site.
