NTT DoCoMo's new eye-candy battery meter

Concept-Battery-Meter It looks slick, but we cannot see how NTT will avoid some kind of CPU and/or battery penalty. The user would also lose the ability to set their own wallpaper, unless NTT are planning on having wallpaper images show up through the water. Yet another use for that battery-draining 'physics engine', we suppose.

Instead of using a set of bars, this one uses the imagery of water to display the battery level on a colour screen saver. Also quirkily, when tilted; a motion sensor kicks in and activates a physics engine which models the exact properties of water and makes the simulated water act like it was in a glass on the screen causing the effects you can see in the above image.
